From Bar Italia to Blood Orange: Your Fall Playlist Guide
By Emilia Pirir
As fall approaches, so do the quiet rhythms of routine. Some of us return to school, others to work, and most of us can’t help but reminisce over the fading warmth of summer. Life begins to settle back into its habitual cadence—but luckily, music always gives us something to look forward to.
Every season brings its own soundtrack, and fall is no exception. What better way to step into these crisp, introspective days than with the right music? This fall, the scene is alive with fresh releases across every genre. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite bands and solo artists to guide you through the season, from experimental indie to post-hardcore and everything in between.

bar italia
First up, London’s bar italia has announced their upcoming album, Some Like It Hot. The trio consists of Nina Cresante on vocals, with Sam Fenton and Jezmi Tarik Fehmi on vocals and guitar.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when indie minimalism collides with modern grit, Bar Italia is the answer. Their sound is intimate but daring, sparse yet unforgettable. Active since 2020, they made their mark with Quarrel and later solidified their approach with The Twits, an album that defined their niche in the experimental indie landscape.
Their latest single, “Fundraiser,” teases the kind of fuzzy hooks and airy vocals that will stick in your head for days. Think of it as indie rock distilled, with just enough bite to remind you they’re not playing it safe.
Fleshwater
If you prefer your music loud enough to make your chest vibrate, Fleshwater has returned with 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky. Following their debut, We’re Not Here To Be Loved, this album proves the band refuses to be boxed in.
Lead singer Marisa Shirar delivers vocals that soar over crushing instrumentation, blending metal, post-hardcore, and experimental flourishes in ways that feel thrillingly unpredictable. Fleshwater first made waves with “Kiss the Ladder” in 2022—a track that perfectly balanced chaos and precision.
Their latest singles continue this trend, proving once and for all: this is a band built for people who don’t just listen to music—they feel it.
She’s Green
One of my current obsessions for all things melancholy, Minneapolis-based She’s Green, has released their second EP, Chrysalis. Founded by five friends, the band remains devoted to raw, unfiltered lyricism.
With nature as both muse and metaphor, tracks like “Willow” and “Little Birds” float on dreamlike vocals and shoegaze-inspired instrumentation. She’s Green’s music is introspective without being self-indulgent, delicate without being fragile. For anyone who loves to wallow beautifully, they’re a perfect fall companion.
Blood Orange
Dev Hynes (a.k.a. Blood Orange) returns with his first album since 2019: Essex Honey. Fourteen tracks later, he’s crafted a record that’s at once grounded and expansive, blending soft introspection with bursts of upbeat energy.
Hynes may have achieved viral fame with “Champagne Coast,” but Essex Honey is a departure—layered harmonies, synths, electric piano, and guitar create subtle undercurrents of longing and loss. It’s the kind of album that makes you want to sit by a window with a cup of tea, watching the leaves turn. Beautiful, sorrowful, and unapologetically Dev Hynes.
Some Honorable Mentions: Fine, Smerz, Chatterton

So put your headphones on, and let the season (and these artists) carry you.
